Not All Heroes Wear Capes!
Although the ability to run the math and percentages is key to long-term poker success... just as important are your instincts! Having the ability to sense weakness in an opponent and capitalize is a skill that can’t be taught! An example of such ability is displayed in the hand below by Ricky Hadiwijaya!
Ricky H: K♠️ 3♠️ UTG+1: X X
High-Jack(HJ): X X
With blinds at 200/400 UTG+1 comes in for a standard open of 1,200. Both Ricky H. and player in the High-Jack (HJ) make the call. Action folds around through the blinds and they go 3-handed to a flop.
Flop: 3♣️ 10❤️ A❤️
Both UTG+1 and Ricky H. decide to check over to the (HJ) who decides to fire out a bet of 2,200. The original raiser (UTG+1) opts to fold with Ricky H. making the call behind to a turn.
Ricky H. checks to his opponent (HJ) who decides to fire again, this time a bet of 3,500! Ricky H. makes the call.
Ricky H. checks for a final time to his opponent who fires out a third barrel, this time totaling 7,000. After deliberating for a few seconds Ricky H. lays the “hero” call to reap the rewards of his opponent instantly “mucking” his holdings into the discard pile. One pair of threes and good instincts proved victorious in the hand!
